Not unusual for BMW. The same situation exists with some other M vehicles, which also have no all-season tire options (e.g., M5). It appears BMW prioritizes warm weather performance for such cars and SUVs, limiting their appeal for potential buyers who live where cold weather makes summer tires unusable for part of the year. While some buyers are willing to exchange between summer and winter tires twice annually, others are not. Similarly, while some buyers don't need their M vehicles to be daily drivers, and can keep them garaged when temps are too low for safe driving on summer tires, others don't have that option.
