38psi is pretty steep for daily driving and BMW's recommendation typically allows for a full load of weight in the rear cargo area. So if the car is never loaded up that heavy then you shouldn't see a situation where you need that much.
I stick to 36F and 33R which is a very comfortable ride and results in no uneven tire wear.
