Wrong sub forum but that's fine.
CarPlay will not go full screen on iDrive. Navigation insurrections on CarPlay navigation apps do not integrate to the Heads Up Display, only the iDrive native navigation will do that.
So no you aren't doing anything wrong and there is nothing you can do.
