Of course! What I meant was that there's a focus on "model year" designations in North America. We place orders for cars of a specific MY. When the annual change-over occurs, many of us will wait a month or two for the "new" model even if there's no difference from one "year" to the next. On the used car market, an MY17 car is considered to be a year newer (and therefore have a greater value) than an identical MY16 car, regardless of whether the two cars were produced or purchased one month apart or 12 months apart.

My understanding is that (at least in Europe), the value equation is based more on when the car is produced, or when it is purchased, rather than the somewhat nebulas American MY designation.

Does Australia follow the American model or the European model?
