Everyone's guessing about what's going to happen with North American models. BMW's announcement is for European and other global markets (where, for example, they're just introducing the M340). There will be a similar announcement for the North American markets in the next month.

But if history is anything to go by (and it may or may not be) . . . BMW - in the US especially - is trying to differentiate the 3/X3 from the 4/X4. So just because the US X4 may get merino leather and M Sport seats, don't be sure the X3 will get them as well. Also, as there's no mention of X3/X4 live cockpit and ID7 in the global announcement, it's doubtful that North America will get them either at this time.

Again, this is just based on history, and like everyone else here, it's just my conjecture. We'll know more about North American vehicles within a month or so . . .

For me, I'm waiting to order a M340 or a X3/X4 M40. I've extensively driven a 330 with live cockpit and ID7 and I like it a lot. Also, I won't order a vehicle without merino leather. So, I may be SOL for another year - the M340 may not get merino in the US, and the X3/X4 may not get the new tech.
