Correct, you do not need to remove the wheel. Seems overkill IMO...and my torque wrench was at the office, so I couldnt get the leverage to break the nut loose. After installing the paddles I went to remove the wheel and since I couldnt, I realized the bolts for the trim were accessible with the paddles off. Its just one screw for each paddle, so I simply removed them and went to work on the trim.

Yes, you would have to remove the airbag for either install. Very easy to do and disconnect the negative battery terminal first.
