At the beginning of December, based on recommendations from this group, I contacted Ian Jin and ordered a set of replica 818M wheels. Payment was made via Alibaba. During the process, I received a video from the production line and later photos of the finished wheels, which all looked reassuring.
On 15.01.2026 I received a tracking number. However, last week a small package arrived that contained only BMW center caps with the name “James” written on the package. No wheels.
Alibaba has now closed the transaction, so I can only leave a review, and communication with Ian has become reduced. His last message from 03 Feb. was that the wheels are supposed to arrive in Europe on March 3rd.
When I check the UPS tracking number I received from Ian, it only says that UPS is waiting to receive the shipment from the sender. The package with the center caps had a completely different tracking number.
My question to the group: is this a normal procedure that you have experienced as well, or should I be worried that I might have been scammed out?
Any insights or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.
