To me its not different than running an RK intake without a filter cover. 
Another reason I plan to stick with stock filter vs K&N etc as they dont filter as much dust to allow more flow. |

Also worth noting that the stock filter has that thin sheet of foam batting glued to the outside, I suppose to act as a pre-filter for any major debris.
