I had Euro Performance Center do the unlock and clone. Since my car was still under warranty, I wouldn't have done it any other way. Yes, it's expensive. With used donor DME and the work EPC performed, I'm into it about $3,000 before tuning software. It takes approximately 15 minutes to swap out DMEs and there is nothing else to be done once they are swapped. Also keep in mind that with a cloned DME, if BMW flashes over the unlock you'll just need to do a $250 unlock available all over the US. If they flash over your stock 2022 DME, it goes back to Helsinki for another $1,000 unlock.
