When you said face temp even I thought you meant the one that faces you, which is the numbers, not the MENU adjusted temp. No the engine will not eat up air as it comes in because it is moving to quickly in ducts around it, if you are idle, possibly, but moving no, it should be near the outside temp +/-5 degrees.
