Yesterday, I saw an almost ideal test situation: a parallel parking space, both the car in front of and the one behind the space were parked over the curb, and the curb itself was low enough that there was no risk of curbing my rims.

So, I let Parking Assist do its job.

My car did end up parking over the curb.

So, then the question becomes: did the car not pick up on the low curb? It is supposed to pick up on the presence of a curb, right? Or does it just orient itself with relation to the two cars?
