To me, it shows the buyer cares enough to spend the money to keep the car looking nice. My 911 had one from the previous owner and the car was perfect when I bought it. I would much rather have the previous owner pay for it.
As far as Golf vs. Type R, I would go Type R - much more fun. If you don't need all wheel drive it's a no brainer. And if you like money, also a no brainer - you won't lose much, if anything, on the Type R.

It's an interesting take but I get it. PPF conceals a lot. You can apply film to a car that's a swirled out mess and the ppf will mask it. The paint will appear to be perfect.
