Thanks, reminded me to order a light set too. Now I won't have to sprint home when the sun's setting.
Edit: Picked up a cycletorch shark 500, looks to be decent for the price and 500 lumens

I promise I don’t have a problem… Fuel EX5 wasn’t cutting it, just got this unit yesterday. Giant Trance X 29 1. Something weird though, when my LBS ordered it AND on the Giant site, it said it came with a Fox 36 fork with Fit4 damper and a Fox DPS 2 position shock, but mine came with a Fox 36 fork with Grip2 damper and a Fox DPS 3 position rear shock… Free upgrade for me, but kind of odd. Bit chilly here, but Saturday should be 50 degrees, so I’ll take it out for the maiden voyage then. Stoked!

Nice bike BTW... Love the Chameleon blue.
Such a beautiful color. I test rode the Trance X Advanced (carbon frame) and it was in this green color, wasn't a fan. I hadn't seen the blue until I went to pick the bike up, and it couldn't be a more perfect color, as I absolutely love purple.

Problem with new pump: Fixed.
When I went to top-up the pressure this afternoon, I noticed that the gauge was not holding the pressure on the dial although it did pump properly.
I did a quick search and found that it was a common problem but it had a quick and simple fix.
At the bottom of the pump, you unscrew the cap, remove the spring and small plastic nib. Clean the port and stretch the spring a wee bit then re-insert. Problem solved.

The Core 3 or 4 on special look appealing.

With the nicer weather and new-ish bike lights. I biked around town on the multi use trails last night. Only saw 2 people smoking crack.
Went out again, still cold for shorts but glad to report no crack users.

Checked-out the trails. A little bit of snow in some areas and flooding on others. It's still nice to be out.

Since we finally have a break from the rain and the trails are relatively dry... Also, saw a new m240i in that midnight purple at the trail head, pretty neat colour.
Went a bit further today than I usually do and pushed a bit too much, almost felt like throwing up for a few mins.

Flat tire on the ride today and had to hike it back to the parking lot. Tried a natural lemongrass/eucalyptus mosquito repellent but apparently it only works where it is directly sprayed. I got 12 bites in a 4 inch patch on the back of my arm I didn't spray.
Edit: Replaced the tube and put the original gear ring back on. It was OK on road and paved trails but the extra tall gearing was a hindrance on single track.
Edit: had a whole tree (approx 8" trunk) fall about 20ft away from me today... one of those hehe I'm in danger moments.

I went for an early morning ride before the heat and humidex. I first decided to do the trail system. BIG MISTAKE! The horse flies were out and once they latch-on to you, they won't let go. They will even bite you through your clothing.
I still managed a few pics.

I lugged my MTB along on family holiday, forgetting that I had a foot injury a few months ago. Walking is fine, but as soon as I started pedaling... it started screaming at at me! So all the hassle of bike/clothes/tools and taking up space in our rental for naught

Got the upgrade itch again.. not sure if it will lead to a new bike this time or not.
I started going down park style runs and more rough rooted trails and feel like the hard tail is getting to be too punishing. Might it be time for rear suspension? Not really sure how much geometry, drivetrain and suspension has changed over the years.. do you guys think it's worth moving into something with a rear shock or just stick with a newer hardtail? Budget is of course a concern and FS are pricey.
Current bike for reference... I'm surprised the link still is active, it's about 12 years old. https://www.competitivecyclist.com/civilian-bicycle-co.-young-turk-mtn-bike

That`s if you are feeling it in you legs/ankles/feet. If it`s hands/arms/shoulders then play with rebound/psi on your front fork.
On a separate note, I`ve been getting back to it recently and teaching my lady friend all the joys of MTB - She hand`t been on a bike for about 20 years and never done anything like this - been a couple of months and she`s starting to hit small drops now
and has the bug! Makes me so happy. Also just taken my BB apart and tried using plumbers tape on the threads ,instead of grease, in an attempt to stop it squeaking after a sandy ride! Saw it as a tip/hack on GMBN tech show, let see how it goes!
