As noted by ASAP - Production Date is the date slated for
build completion. That was in fact the date my previous build finished. Original Prod date was 8/17, then moved to 8/16. I was in Production Begins status all the way up to 8/16 and then boom! I went through all other statuses in one morning to Awaiting Carrier Assignment IIRC. So the system updates really vary case by case.
