Mirrors are set at different open angles, if we look closely. The viewing range requires different designs, side to side. This influences the closed positions.
Added thought... LHD and RHD models have different/opposite mirror sets.

Ah, thanks! Good to know it's normal. Reminds me of my old M3. The driver's side mirror is slightly higher than the passenger side. People always thought it was an optical illusion, but apparently it was designed that way on purpose.
