Just secured this one this past Wednesday!
That is a massive amount down which is normally not the right move.
Marginally more risky. I think that recommendation and worry is blown out of proportion. I haven't put money down in any of my cars in the last few years. I also haven't totaled any cars in 20 years of driving.

If you have a reason to put money down, I don't think it's a big deal.
It's not about a risk. It's about being a waste of money. It's much better spent on msds or anything else.
What's the objective?

Is it a lower monthly payment? Then it's well spent in a down payment. MSDs do not achieve that as much. Dollar for dollar, the impact of the down payment is much higher.

If the objective is to not waste money, we picked the wrong asset to do that in the first place…
The money you used as a down payment could be used to invest, even in some thing conservative. You just take that money out as you need to make your car payments. And you get your money back at the end with msds so Dollar for dollar it's WAY more.
Some people want to have a lower car payment from BMW directly, your solution doesn't solve that.

In any case, not going to discuss this further, not the right forum for this.
