Glad you're ok! I will tell you that you're very foolish to not just bring it to bmw and let them deal with it.
You will get a bmw loaner, they know everything about the car and what to watch for and it's on them to make everything right. This way if problems pop up down the road your buddys shop isn't on the hook.
