Personally, I always liked having vehicles which few other people owned. In my ~15 years of owning my Interlagos Blue E46 M3 (Competition Package was required to get that color at at cost of ~$5k) I saw exactly zero in that color.
I have not even seen an M40i unless you count the regular X3 with a fake M40i badge in the wrong place while at Walmart.

I had a competition pack in individual Estoril Blue back when I lived in LA. Thought I’d be unique. Went to a car meet with
willpower and saw another Estoril E46 M3, though theirs was not ZCP. Interlagos was common in LA though.
