Not true - it's the opposite: you will only get the credit if you finance thru BMW, regardless of the rate.
My dealer also added 1% on top of the best rate advertised by BMW, their excuse was the best rate was for 'participating dealers' only and they were not one of them. In a smaller city market where there are only 2 dealers, I guess they could do that. It's money grab and more profits for the dealer (I assume they got financial benefits via kickback on the rate, otherwise why would they care if there were no profit incentives?)
