Pricing will be king. If someone walks in a BMW dealership looking for a regular X3 2.8i at around $50-60k and is presented with a choice of all electric 250 mile range for $60k, they will be tempted.
The Jag will be expensive, and with questionable reliability despite the reduced number of parts in an EV. They’ll find a way to make it break down.
Battery is the biggest single expense in an EV. There is nothing stopping BMW from putting a 90kw battery in it, or even bigger, for a sportier more expensive model later on.
