2007 X3 sirius sat radio options
So here is my dilehma, my 2007 X3 LCI has sattelite prep pacakge with basic HIFI stereo. Went to my local BMW dealer to see what my options are for adding sat radio and the SA gave me part numbers - $530 for the unit and another $50 for the mounting bracket. Ok not too bad, considering that it comes with 1 year subscription. So then I asked him to see if there is an iPod integration module available, and yes he gave me a part number and price was under $300. The caviat is that you can only install either one.
So my question to the group here, what are my options? I would like to have both iPod and Sat radio in my car (due to commute), and I dont want to have to deal with aftermarket antenna wiring etc.. I want to be able to control both iPod and sat radio through my head unit. Is it possible to have both installed? Thanks!!!!

I've just done this mod.
Follow this thread and buy the MK3 tuner 65120439437. You don't need the antenna splitter with a MK3 tuner. You only get 3 months free. http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=914129 You will need the mounting kit 84110390240. The tuner just bolts on. You will need to pull the headunit out and detach the connector that is taped to the harness with SDARS written on it. Swap it in to the radio connector for the audio and tape back the one you removed. For the iPod, the BMW one should be avoided. For a start it won't fit the iPhone 5 and future iPhones, and second it does not support text, you get six playlists matched to the 6 CD buttons and that's it. Look at a Dension or a DICE Mediabridge and plug it in to the CD changer sockets under the storage bin in the front armrest. |

Assuming you've done the obvious and checked the antenna is plugged in then they may have given you a MK2 and neglected to put in the splitter, the antenna may be broken (and they aren't cheap) or the connectors under the headlining may need a wiggle.
EDIT: BTW if anything is wronk with the tuner and it's a MK1 or MK2 try to get them to swap for a MK3. It's lightening fast at tuning. |

MK3 has one antenna socket and is made by Alpine. MK1 and MK2 you need to check the part number in google, I think e46 fanatics has a list of pert numbers to versions that should pop when you google the PN.

Plugged in aftermarket antenna and got the signal. Have an early production 2007 model, and found several other people having similar issue. Apparently BMW issued tsb, trying to find it now..
http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...007-3-0si.html If anyone has access to that bulletin please post it. Thank you

Issue resolved. There is a wiring issue with early 2007 production models. Factory did not wire white sat radio plug. Plugged in to the right outlet, and sirius is now working. Service bulletin attached..
Called to activate my subscription, and Sirius is saying I am only eligible for 3 month trial, and not a year. BMW dealer is looking into it.
