Just order a 2013 35i X3 for my wife and I. Space Gray w/Oyster and just about every option. We also have a 2011 135i but we need the SUV because of living in eastern Pa. We are in our 60's so we decided to live a little and buy BMW's. We aren't getting any younger.

I'm the primary driver of the X3 but my wife and I made the decision together to purchase the vehicle. Her previous car was a Toyota Corolla that was getting long in the tooth so we traded it toward the Bimmer. She now drives my previous car, a 2006 Subaru Forester XT and absolutely loves it as it's leagues better than her Corolla in pretty much every aspect.
With that said, my X3 is Vermillion Red/black leather/aluminum trim and pretty much every option except M-Sport and HUD. I was already pushing the budget and had to cut what I felt was unimportant at the time. The X3 with DDC is an absolute boss on twisties and I'm glad I didn't skip that option. I'm not married and I didn't have girl friend when I bought it. So it's juste for me. White exterior / black interior. No M Sport pkg (I don't like the look of the M Sport. I prefer with some black.)

Got mine for myself, came from Arctic 330i with beige/wave interior, Was considering Deep Sea Blue, but decided Mineral Silver is more practical, and still great colour, oyster/wave interior, with most options, except HUD, and Adaptive syspension, no M-Sport, rather spend money on other options. Wife chooces her own, currently drives Horizon Blue Mini Cooper.

I'm sure I'll be crucified here but the X3 (or X5) does not seem like the kind of vehicle for only a man to use. These fragile "SAVs" are meant for lugging stuff around like big purses and mothers (re my wife). A sporty car with MT and a junker SUV for Home Depot trips is more appropriate.

This is my wife's second X3. She had an '07 (Blue Water) that she absolutely loved.
I traded her '07 X3 in on a '09 328 xi (AW - her fav color), thinking she would prefer the slightly sportier/lower handling ride, but she hated it. My wife prefers the SUV's seating comfort/view over a sedan. It's why I bought her another X3. Yep, it's AW. Her new X3 has most of the options. She loves her new X3. I'm not embarrased to say I like her X3, nor do I mind driving it. That thing will scoot! Yes, the MSport option is a must. I would order it just as I ordered my wife's. AW w/beige interior. Premium Stereo is also a must. Space Gray w/a light interior would be my second choice. If I had my druthers, I'd lust after a Cayenne Turbo! That monster is schweeet! I'm a dude, and bought it for myself without regard for anyone else's choices:'
COLOR: White. I think it looks a bit girlie, but I like the clean, cool lines of white cars. INTERIOR: Mojave - less girlie than tan, and a nice contrast with the black interior colors M-SPORT: I chose not to get MSport. It didn't do much for me as styling goes, but I was under the impression (sales' guy's statement) that my SAP steering wheel was the same as the MSport wheel. It's not. Oh well.

I'm using my X3 as a work truck - tools, parts, hard hat, equipment go in the back. In summer, it's towing our camper and boat. If you need one car to do it all, it's hard to fault the X3. Driving a pickup is boring as heck, and having an extra vehicles around just for going to home depot is a waste, and a hassle, in my opinion.

Space Gray is probably my favorite color with a Mojave interior. If I had someone to wash the car every day and detail once per month I'd choose the Carbon Black/Mojave.
M- Package loaded up with all the other major options: Convenience, Technology, Premium Sound, Dynamic Handling, Apps, Cold Weather, Fineline Wood, High Gloss Rails. The one we bought has all the above options, but with Sea Blue/Sand Beige. My second favorite combo and the whole family is happy. It's primarily my wife's car. I picked the X3 for her. |

Bought it for me, is it a girls car now then!
Principally I bought an x3 because I was heart sick of my 330d's cracked alloy issue. Haven't regretted it, in fact it is easily the best descision car wise that I have ever made. Can't see me go back to a saloon/ coupe ever. |

I bought mine for my wife but even if it was for me it would be exactly the same as it is set up now. Doesn't matter to me who drives a vehicle in my garage... all of them are sexy

I'm a male who bought a sapphire black with black nevada interior for myself with no Msport and just about every option except HUD. No input from the wife required.
After one year of driving an X1 I broke my lease and picked up the X3 and am very, very pleased. I previously had a 550 and got the X1 (i know, wtf was i thinking) because my "you always get the fun car" wife traded her Honda Element in for a mini convertible jcw and we needed something that could transport the dog and take us skiing while satisfying our increasing awareness of environmental impact wrt fuel consumption and emissions. To that end, the X1 served its purpose and was good for tight city parking spots. Believe it or not, I even managed to just fit a 130lb english mastiff in the hatch (picture a ginormous croissant touching all sides of a made to measure box). However, any X1 drive in excess of 30 mins will leave you feeling as though you've been thrown down a flight of stairs and if that dog could of it would have flipped me the bird every time I closed the hatch. |
