I have a trouble with light sensor.
Some times like today sunny day with automatic lights the CAR not uses angel eyes but full lights.... Could Simeone helps me?.

its normal for that to happen, it happens to me as well. from what i read on the forums it has happen to others

It's supposed to work that way. I hesitate to say 'RTFM' but the manual does cover this.

The light sensor has multiple stages. When it starts to get darker in the day but there is still visible daylight, the lights are activates with no changes in the dash lighting. This is when you want the visibility of headlights (without glare of DRL's) but don't want to dim the dash too much yet.

As it gets darker the computer will sense this and will change the instrument display and NAV into night mode (NAV shows a starry night and messages change from white to orange).

So, yes, this is all normal. It's well known the headlights are set a little too sensitive by the computer and they tend to come on too early, but it's not a big issue. BMW engineering paranoia? Mistake? Who knows? Most of us have simply learned to live with it. Season can effect the light sensor as well since it's more based on radiation from the sun than simply visible light.

I've posted about this earlier. I went through the same thing. I went to the dealer with this. After changing out the "faulty sensor" by the dealer, the issue remained the same. After that, they went back and reprogrammed the sensor to a less sensitive setting - so that it takes a bit less light to activate the headlights.

That sounds better. Would be great if someone found a way to code this one by ourselves through ESys. I may have to look into that.

I thought it was an issue at first but after the dealer installed a replacement sensor, it behaved exactly the same way. We live in a world of convenience but sometimes you just have to reach out, literally put your destiny between your fingertips and give that knob next to your turn signal stalk a twist!

has anyone been able to code the level of light that controls the automatic headlights. I, too, find they come on a bit early.

Yeah, I know, it's a convenience thing here having automatic lights. It's nice to have it and have one less thing to worry about.

OTOH, I really wish more cars had them standard. It's unbelievable the number of cars you can spot on a rainy night here in Seattle with no lights on. I know the city lights make it a bit harder to realize it, but, come on..., how many miles do you go not glancing at the dark dash? Another moving obstacle for all of us to watch out for.

I also think it's a coding problem that is too sensitive. Hopefully a super expert can help eliminate this annoying problem ....
