E83 Interior Swap
I bought my silbergrau X3, which had everything I wanted except an interior in a coordinating color. Rather than tobacco (dark brown), I really wanted black/gray (black interior with gray seats and door inserts), which was a color combination never offered. Undeterred, I created it myself from a salvage set of seats and door panels.
The other interior niggle was the dark wood trim, which offered a less sporting appearance than aluminum, and the smooth black vinyl surfaces, which are dust magnets. I applied two contrasting shades of carbon fiber film to achieve the appearance I sought and hide light dust on the dashboard. While I was at it, I replaced the gearshift knob with a stubby ZHP alternative (slightly shorter throws) and the steering wheel (SAV package version with leather spokes and aluminum trim.

VERY interesting.
While I would never throw away brown as I think it's the best interior color ever, I do like what you did to yours. The match looks good on seats versus interior (the full gray interior looks boring). Not a fan of carbon on the console though but I know what you mean about dust magnet and all. Car looks great overall!
