1st Break in oil change
Hey guys,
I know this may be old news and I thought just wanted to share. I recently just got my 1st oil change and boy, it is a big difference rather retaining with the original factory oil until next year. It just makes the engine run and breathe smoother like silk. On the factory oil, I felt like there was something holding back the engine like there was a resistance on it. I have been avg 23mpg city driving on Eco Pro with the factory oil, sometimes I switch to sport mode to jack rabbit if I feel like it. So far I have been getting around 220-230 miles on a 65% in the gas tank weekly. Btw, when using the ASS, I felt like it was smoother with the oil change. Trip cost to a local BMW Indy 6 qrts $50 BMW filter $14 Service $52 Awesome customer service, with car insight knowladge $0 Total=$116 compared to an estimate at $180 at the dealer Hopefully I would see improvement overtime,

its was at 5600 miles,
BMW dosent cover oil change outside your schedule maintenance, i have 7 months before that. Make sure that you dont reset your service interval and buy the Genuine BMW filter. Quote:
Either one is fine, but it is just preference. Last edited by Teemo Panda; 10-19-2012 at 09:00 PM. |

My car tells me that I have another 12000 mile until service is due - and I'm at 4500 miles now. I was told by the service manager they want to see the car yearly no matter what the interval states. I really don't think I can go 16000 miles on the orginal oil...

And we have proper winter here as well Not even the most technical car magazine in Finland do additional oil changes during their long tests (40 000 miles test) on their cars, they only change oils when the OBD or schedule says so. And after each test they disassemble the engine to pieces and I have never seen any problems there in the past years. Back in 80's and 90's there was some occasions when valves or camshaft was worn... but not anymore. |

[quote=Rodion]The only difference is that gas and Diesel engines. So yea be careful what oil you use.
