Then it's straight to the Telephone screen on the iDrive, hit the Messages menu and read the message. Works when I'm driving as well. Haven't activated Push e-mail so I don't know many details there. |

Sure your music is there? I've heard that some iPhone users lost their music when doing the upgrade... |

One thing that I noticed is that if you have two phones connected at the same time then the iPhone must be the primary phone in order for MAP to work. I carry two phones, a BB and an iPhone. This particular BB software doesn't support MAP. If the BB is primary then I don't see texts sent to the iPhone. If the iPhone is primary then I do see them.

For those in the US who have this working in IOS6, could you please say:
Which iPhone (ie, 5, 4s, or 4). Exactly what is working? SMS messages, or how about emails? Maybe even show a photo if attached to the message? How are you notified that a new message (or maybe email)has arrived? Is there a sound? Or a visual indication? Is there a voice command that can quickly show the new message? |

iPhone 4S. SMS works fine. I don't get much email on the iPhone, and hadn't noticed whether or not email shows up. I tried a test this morning and email did not show up.
Notification is via an envelope icon appearing in the upper right corner of the Nav screen. |

Email doesn't work for me either. iPhone 4, all setup correctly for notifications and tried re-pairing. I have gmail and yahoo accounts registered. Will have a play with it tomorrow and try to see if I can get it to work. iPhone ordered so will try this next week

Same issue here. 4S SMS, and assist messages show up, I have the email count icon but never see any emails messages on the current office screen with unread messages in my inbox. I am wondering if it has anything to do with having multiple email accounts.

Tommorrow, I'll try deleting all the email accounts on the 4S except one and see if that works.

There are probably a few people with Android phones who have been doing this for months, and who are getting a nice chuckle. |

All kidding aside, like you said you do not need 6NR for this to work. It's purely over Bluetooth and as long as your Bluetooth stack has the MAP profile which I understand iOS6 adds to at least the iPhone 4 and above, it should work. There are threads here from earlier this year where someone helped me out to get my then HTC Vivid working with this and now my Samsung GS3 also works with it like a charm.I am one of those hybrid users and I have both Android and an iPhone 4 (soon to be 5). I have BMW Apps as well which I use with my iPhone and as a side note, I'm anxious to find out if the 5 will work with BMW Apps since I have heard both sides that it should and should not work. lol But for the text messaging and email - you definitely do not need 6NR. The text message option is very cool b/c how many times do you get a text msg while driving and you can't (shouldn't) pull your phone out to check. Being able to reply would be great but that's for the next version of iDrive. ![]() |

http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/nav...gion=&country= I had to do this back in February to my then new 2012 X3 in order for the text/email features to work with my phone. I believe the newer version expanded compatibility with some phones. Last edited by JSY; 09-21-2012 at 11:12 PM. Reason: Would help if I included the URL I am referencing... |

Got this working for EMAIL with an iPhone 4 but emails are categorised as SMS. See pictures below and note some of the things I played with (not sure which finally got this working)
1. iDrive: Switched off Office Bluetooth and switched it back on 2. iDrive: re-paired iPhone 4 for phone and audio streaming 3. iPhone: setup mail notifications as per below Only seems to work if iPhone screen is locked (so that new email messages appear on the locked iPhone screen) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks for the exact steps.. Mine wasn't working after I upgraded from the final beta, and I never realised there was an option on the iPhone bluetooth connection to enable notifications, so I've enabled that now, and will see if it works..
thanks everyone |
