Rear view camera malfunction?

Everytime the rear view camera comes on I get a message on the display that says "rear view camera malfunction", but the camera seems to be operating just fine along with all other features like the lines and object marking. Anybody else?

I had this problem and it was just a connector that was not correctly plugged.

Just picked up a new X3 and have this exact problem - error message every time but it works fine. Really don't want the hassle of taking it back, any idea where the connector that needs reseating is?

All fixed!

Second time was the charm. First time it went in they found the camera was out of calibration. No error message until the next day. Back to the dealer. Camera out of calibration........again. Tech found loose fasteners on the camera mount. All fixed after another lengthy calibration! My thought was this, if the camera went out of cal for no apparent reason (like an accident) wouldn't you check the camera mounting first and then re-calibrate.

Hi guys, just received an X3 F25 and also have this annoying message when I shift to reverse.

Sent in to BMW Sydney and they said its all fine now after having it for a day.

Collected the car, drove off, decided to test it and the error message came back instantly. Called BMW Sydney and they said they have no clue what was wrong.

Hoping you guys can advise how I can plug back any loose connections if any without going back to BMW Syd.

Send a message via Yahoo to April1
If the connections are loose, you would see disturbance on the view on screen. But if the view is clean, there is something else wrong. We will have to figure out how does system determine the correct functioning of the camera.
