FYI Underseat Woofer
I was hoping to do some tweaks to the underseat woofers to determine whether I could improve the sound output. Thought I’d post for any other OP’s thinking of doing the same or could use the information gained for other woofer/subwoofer installs.
Almost all the pictures I have seen on the internet for other BMW’s have shown the woofer driver mounted in a small box and then the box is connected through a circular vent to an hollow area under the car. I was going to try Acousta-stuf and resonance control via a product such as Dynamat on the box. I pulled the woofer assembly out, to find as pictured below, that the driver is mounted to a ~.5 inch thick and ~2.5 inch deep plastic circular mount. The mount is directly bolt over a 4-5 inch circular vent to a large hollow area. Not any room for tweaking here. Information gained: Seat bolts #50 Star Speaker cover screws T-20 Housing mounting bolts 10mm Rear housing bolts, a bit tough with the carpet/insulation After thought-The right side wires were blue with stripes(probably correspond to amp out wires) . If I remember correctly; red and white stripes. Good news-The US Premium System speaker seems to be pretty good quality. |
