The 2012 NYIAS press days wrapped up last week and the public days opened this past weekend. Hopefully our NY area members have gotten (or will get) a chance to attend. Those of you who did attend this past weekend, what did you think? Any favorites?

The video below shows the press conference highlights from the press days, featuring the stars of this year's display - the M6 Coupe and Convertible, the X1, and the 6 Series Gran Coupe.

The auto show this weekend was great and the 328i xdrive was a hit. i didnt get a chance to sit in it but it was my first time seeing it in person and it looks just like the pictures. i feel like the front end is narrow idk im going in for service on wednesday so ill look closer at it then. I also have a friend in the market for a small car and we looked at the nissan juke and the deal breaker... THERE ARE NO ARMRESTS for the front seats... how do u design a car offer it in stick and not have an armrest. People blow my mind but anyway AUTOSHOW was great if u get a chance go look at the flying car :-D

M6 coupe by far. I love that new orange colour but it would need to be in San Marino blue! One of the best blues I've ever seen.

Went there on Easter. Wasn't packed, just BMW because it's close to the entrance. Don't have much to share, these pictures were taken on my phone.

Do you mean there are no armrests in the doors either? FYI BMW has made numerous models with no center armrest. My 2002 M Coupe had nothing but hard plastic between the seats. There is a company called LeatherZ that made armrests you could add in aftermarket. My 2007 Z4 Coupe had a quarter inch thick pad on top of the center console that you could kind of call an armrest I think. Both stick shift BMWs with no center armrest. My current 135i has a wonderful armrest though.

A San Marino blue coupe would have taken top place for sure. Amazing color. Completely new BMW color right?

I know the X1 was on the floor and not roped off. I can't remember if it was unlocked though. The BMW's around it weren't locked.

i3, i8, and Active E were there. I took quite a few pics of the i8. Beautiful machine...

Both X1s were locked, but at least you get near the blue one. It is a theme of the NY show I guess, easily 50% on average of all cars on exhibit were locked. This is becoming a trend at autoshows and I think the organizers need to address it via rules. If you can only view the car from the outside with most roped off or locked, what's the point of making the trip to a show?

Thank you! I picked up a new lens specifically to shoot the show, loved it... Hopefully you are not the guy holding up the iPad to take pics.

As for Red Bank, we typically meet on the 2nd Saturday of the month at The Grove on Rt. 35. People usually start arriving around 8:30 and it goes until about 11am or so. Lots of Porsches, and a decent number of Ferraris usually show up. Stole this from an older thread:

Time: 8:30AM - 10:30AM
Date: Saturday July 9th
Place: The Grove in Shrewsbury (there is a Starbucks)
Address: 597 Route 35 Shrewsbury, NJ 07702

We had a nice showing last time with some new faces from here on FChat as well as from the Jersey Shore PCA. Let's keep growing...

A few requests:
1) We park in the row of parking spaces which runs alongside Hwy 35N. By parking further away from the Starbucks we won't mix as easily with wide car drivin', SUV luvin' shoppers and coffee seekers. Added potential bonus - folks driving past in nice cars should see us more easily and stop. Hello Gallardo and 599GTB drivers!
2) Please obey all posted speed, traffic and parking signs.

Let's try to make this gathering a little less random - still very casual but less random. The second Saturday of every month has been suggested, with the third Saturday a "rain date" of sorts.

Spread the word! I look forward to seeing the normal crew again and hopefully some new faces and neat cars.
