I love my X6.. and I have gotten comments almost every day since I started driving it. It is fast, nimble and spacious. It has the ride height of an SUV and handles like a coupe. The only people I see complain about it are purists(who are in a vast minority of BMW owners) and 328i owners who as far as I am concerned are more concerned with the badge on the front/back of their car than anything else.

Is the three-door layout confirmed? Many of the renders I'm seeing are five-door.

Here's the latest renders from Autoexpress. I hope they are wrong on the 5-door setup.

Seems like a GT version of the x3, not anything exciting.

I believe the X4 will be a 5-door and the X2 will be a 3-door.

I could swear that SCOTT26 said that the x4 would likely be 3-door. Oh well. 5-door kills most of my interest in this model.

EDIT: Nvm, looks like the 3-door idea came from the Autobild renders.

That rear 3/4 view doesn't look as good as a lot of the other renders I've seen. I can't put my finger on what I don't like about it.

To reflect the market segment the X4 will be a five dr. The BMW X6 initially was to be a 3dr until market testing revealed that it would be a better proposition as a five dr. The X4 has gone the same way , however The Porsche Cajun comes as a five dr first and then a 3dr Coupe model. BMW are evaluating the same idea with the 5dr first and then a 3dr Coupe.

I think that the rear window is too small, should extend further up the roofline.

A render somewhere from the internet:

Porsche is updating the styling of the Porsche Macan (to better reflect new SUV design expectations after Range Rover Evoque got such customer success).

BMW is also making every effort to make a huge splash with the X4.

Michael Mauer, who leads Porsche’s design offensive said that the Macan will come with more striking details that it was initially planned (Autonews Europe interview).Mauer explained that automakers constantly update the look of a model that’s being developed after being impressed by other new vehicles.

That render may be goofy, but at least it has the proper amount of orange peel for a modern BMW.

I'm not expecting a 3-door; I think it limits the market too much. Plus, the X6 is a 5-door.

besides, it's very important for Europe, where the car market finds itself in free fall, while you Americans love SUVs and sedans and sport cars,...
