What do you think will be parts availability down the road for the new X3? It's certainly one of the purchasing decisions. How long do you think one could keep the car for before parts availability becomes an issue? Given the reliability ratings of BMW it's a major concern.

Thanks! Not sure if I should trust Consumer Reports since the 2012 X3 is so new, but really nice to have the parts answer. Wasn't aware.

Hmm. JD Power gives good predicted reliability as well, but Initial Quality is below average for 2011. Nothing for 2012, but I assume they're the same:

Down the road? Parts availability will likely be good. Today, not so much. Parts are available, but typically ship from Germany, with an associated shipping delay. It's not uncommon for 2011 owners to wait a week or two for a warranty part. I doubt that it's much different for a 2012 owner
