Hindsight ordering
For those who already have their X3's, if you were ordering again tomorrow what options would you order in addition to your spec and/or what options would you delete
I would drop: Xline package (not happy with rear trim) I would add: Matt aluminium exterior trim (not available when I ordered) Internet (not available when I ordered) 309 19" alloys Performance control (salesman missed off my order) 30d (not available when I ordered) I would still order Black/Oyster and Sienna combo Would consider M sport but think I would end up spending extra on the 30d performance rather than sport styling

Would have waited 3 more months (if I'd known) and ordered the M-Sport package. Wasn't available at time of order for my 28i. Frankly, all I wanted were the sports seats & steering. But...I have my loaded Z which has all those goodies, so sort of makes up for it!

The only thing I would add is the power liftgate. Everything else (sapphire black, sand beige, wave wood, tech package, sports activity package, heated front seats/wheel) would stay the same.

Being that I had to put a second re-order in on my vehicle after receiving the 1st, the only thing I added the second time around was the power tailgate. I didn't get it the first time around because at that time it was delaying orders and I didn't want to wait. Since that is not an issue now, I added it. Wouldn't change a thing otherwise

The only 2 things I would change(based on my personal preference) would be the interior color(change to Black Nevada as it shows much less dirt). I would also order power tailgate.( I love it on my car. It is really fast opening and closing)

I just helped my folks purchase their X3 off the lot, mineral silver w/tan leatherette. X-Line, Heated Seats, Headed wheel, Sport Package w/ Sport Seats, Roof, and a few other options. The only options they/we would have liked would be Sirius and Xenon Lights. What a great vehicle this new X3 is!

I am very happy with mine the way I ordered it. I might push harder for summer tires instead of the AllSeasons that came on the 390M wheels, that's about all I would change.

Is performance control really available as a dealer retro fit ?
Only thing I would add is the storage package. I miss the net in the passenger footwell and would like some rear cupholders. These may also be available as a retro fit so may get round to looking into it sometime. |

extended storage, 6NR for me
Interesting that you list perf control Bimmer. I wouldn't mind having another test drive in a car with no perf control, no servo, 17" (non-RF) rims and standard suspension to weigh up the differences. Agree on M Sport but might change my mind when I see one in real life. Couldn't justify the total cost of a 30d with all of the options I'd want. Also think the mpg would be way down (only averaging 35 with the 20d) - would be nice though

No buyer’s remorse by any means here, but if I had to order again I would get one of the sport packages.
I’m probably in the vast minority here, but the reason I would get it is not for the jump in zippyness but I'd get it because I live in an area where winds are regularly 20-30mph. On those windy days it would be nice to be able to stiffen things up a tad assuming sport or sport+ mode would do that. Even with the standard suspension it does well in cross winds, but not quite as well as my old X3. It’s something that I can easily live with as I would call it very good but not great. |

Chicago is often overlooked by foreign travelers, but has a lot to offer with a nice lakefront, great restaurants, music and just about anything you would want. I actually live about 3 hours south of Chicago now in Bloomington, but go there often for work. Bloomington’s in the middle of farm country. With the open plains here the wind kicks up something fierce. We’re known for corn and windmills. |
