Any word on release time frame? I saw a site saying late 2012 as a 2013 model but I was thinking it would be more early 2013 as a 2014 model as we haven't even seen test spy shots of this car.

If it's late 2012 I might hold onto my LR2 for another year and pray there are no major issues with it.

Um if it becomes a problem like the HPFP or the notorious stuttering AT (like I had) then I would care since it would sit in the shop the majority of the time or leave me stuck on the side of the road.

And then of course the answer would be: "It must be the way your drive". Um I have a certificate from YOUR driving course, did they teach me wrong?"

Or, "We have never seen this before, except for the other 40 drivers that called to complain yesterday".

I am waiting on this vehicle and have already begun my fund the new toy savings account, but certainly won't buy one straight out of the gate. I did that with the 07 X3 and spent the entire first year between the shop and my attorney until they finally agreed to get me an MT X3.

Expect it to be a little quicker than that. it will be faster than the 35i which is 5.5. I would think the 35D can do it in just over 5 seconds, maybe 5.1-5.2

I hope for yours (and all our) sake it isn't like every first gen they put out (to be fair any mfg first gen is usually buggie).

Getting a diesel that fast would really be an easy justification for owning one. Utilitarian, fast as all get out, and thrifty on the fuel budget.

Please let us know how it turns out with plenty of pictures. This is one time I would be happy to eat my size 11 sneaker

^^^ Perhaps they are waiting because they want to debut the new M 6 cylinder engine in the F30(F80) M3 first.

BMW M Cars get tri-turbo diesel

BBC Top Gear

BMW's M Division may have started out with a raspy, fighty little petrol 3 Series, but today it stands for something more. Much more. Say hello to the birth of the 3.0-litre triple-turbo straight six diesel M car.

BMW recently revealed its intention to create a new range of M-tuned cars that would sit between the standard range and the ‘proper' M cars, and today we find out that on launch, the brand will offer a four-wheel-drive BMW M550d and M550d Touring, a BMW X5 M50d and a BMW X6 M50d.
