Engine "bounce" in reverse?
Anyone else experience this? Sometimes when in reverse and feathering off the brake the engine seems to "bounce" the car a bit while moving backwards at very low speeds. It's definitely not the braking and coming from the engine.
Anyone?

have had similar problem, when reversing and gently brake get a clonking noise from front wheels. Went to my dealers this morning and they have diagnosed front brake pads moving within brake caliper causing noise ,booked in for next week ,they are talking to bmw technical about changing both brake pads and maybe putting in new caliper and holders .hope this sorts out problem, will wait and see if this solution sorts the problem. hope so because i had problems with my previous car bmw x1

Hope everything else is working out well for you and your new X3. I voted in mine last night. It's only a 5 minute walk to the Polling Station but I couldn't resist a quick spin ![]()

I have the same problem as julesjen. I get the clunking noise after stopping and it's only the first time hitting the brake after reversing. A perfect example is backing in to my garage: I drive forward and stop - put the car in reverse and when I hit the brakes I hear the clunk. It sounds like the front left. In order to get the clunk again I have to drive forward. Stop. Put it in reverse and then hit the brake - Clunk!

I have something simular to TarHeelFan on my E90 (330i), but that seems to come from the rear brakes. Have been to the dealer a couple of times, where they replaced pads, calipers, and eventually discs, but didn't solve it. Eventually gave up, seeing as I will be trading it in shortly on my new X3 35i

Of this responses this seems to be the one most similar to my situation. I'm sure it's not a brake issue, but cold engine maybe.
