2011 X3 Ordered! New forum member - XBimmers

Hey all, I've been lurking for about a month in the forums and thanks to this place, I was able to gather all the information I needed to plan my X3 build. So a big thanks to everyone here!

I placed my order a few days ago and this is what I got:

Welcome, Zip, sounds like a great build order........especially the VR and black leather. I went Dark Wave wood trim on mine, not Alum.

The wait period is the worst part.....

Congrats and welcome to the forum and X3 family. You are going to love and enjoy your experience with your first and new X3. I have the same configuration but in metallic black for about 2 months now and still look for reasons to run errands just to get behind the wheel. Again, congrats.

Welcome to this forum. I'm relatively new as well and I've found it to be a good place to spend time. I nearly went with the red, but opted for space gray instead. Nice choices.

I'm surprised everyone is getting the oyster or black with the v-red. They all look nice, but I did see the red with beige and it was stunning.

Don't have a production date yet, but my CA told me to expect between 45 and 60 days before the car is ready for delivery. Anyone else on the west coast getting that long of a wait to get their new vehicle?

I don't think its delaying production that much. I ordered my car the other day and was told that it wouldn't be produced till early June if I had power tailgate. However, the slot that I took(the car) had the convenience package and was supposed to be produced early May. I took that spot and needless to say the production date did NOT change..

I asked the dealer if the power tailgate was pushing out my delivery and build dates. He told me that these are simply incredibly popular cars and that BMW is having a heck of a time trying to keep up with demand. In fact, not 5 minutes after I put my order in, another couple walked in wanting to order an x3 28i. I supposedly got the last slot for this month's order list at the dealer, so the other couple is going to have to wait even longer to get theirs.

The vibe that I got from my CA the other day was that the delays were due mostly to the sheer volume of cars being ordered, and the factory struggling to keep up with demand.

I ordered the 3.5 with Deep Sea Blue, Black leather, and Fineline Wood too. And pretty much loaded mine up. Nice choices!

Heh, there's a guy that must live w/in a mile of me that always seems to have the same/very similar car to the one that I've go, and within a short while before/after I get mine. When I had a blue 330Ci, he had a blue BMW coupe as well. When I got my blue Mustang GT (no spoiler) he got a blue Mustang GT as well (with the spoiler). I know I'm not loosing my mind here, because even my neighbor has gotten this guy and me confused once or twice on the highway before. :P
