Picked up my 35i with 6NR

I must say I'm somewhat underwhelmed with 6NR, it doesn't seem to offer anything particular useful for me. Of course I have neither facebook nor twitter account, so I'm sure that has something to do with it...The other part is, the plugin functionality requires the cradle, which isn't available now, the parts department said they have an estimated shipping date of July for iphone 4...so that'll be some wait. Hopefully they will add more apps to this thing. The highlight of the 6NR option so far has honestly been the screen on the BMW app on iphone that shows me fuel level and range information

Well, at least its better to have the system now so that when functionality finally becomes available you'll be able to take advantage. I ordered 6NR also, but don't expect much for awhile.

Thats the first time I have seen it in action. I hope to see what else it can do soon.

I hope it takes little for BMW to release the new cradle. And if they also release an iOS development kit for BMW Apps... Then the fun really begins.

My 35i was produced just before the 6NR became available however I do have Premium, smart phone int, etc... Has anyone heard if BMW will offer 6NR by way of a download into the system. You would think that it would just be a software upgrade. I would be willing to pay the $250 if that's what they charge.

The official line is no retro fit I'm afraid. There is a long thread on the speculation. Search for 6NR.

However, there is at least one 3rd party vendor offering a retrofit kit for 6NR on X5s and X6s, so this might be a possibility in the future.

Have anyone find the hidden menu in the idrive? You have to push the start button and the trip reset button simultaneously for a couple seconds(not pushing brake pedal)then ad the sum of the five last digits in the vin (like 5 if if you have 11111) and enter the sum in the right sub-menu. This should work for F10, curious if it works for F25.

I thought maybe this a practical joke but curiosity killed the cat and I tried it . Yes it works. Lots of technical information and options to reset the software etc. Most interesting part for me was how much fuel was in each part of the fuel tank.

No secret add 6NR option for free though sadly

There is also an "easter egg" where "weather vane" gets displayed. Sales person accidentally brought this up by hitting buttons more or less at random (he didn't have a clue how to use the nav). We also saw this and I asked if this was a special option. The sales person said that he never saw this before in his life. I have no idea how to bring it back up. There are probably other easter eggs like this put in by the programmers as an inside joke.

So I got the menu to come up and I can scroll through the options using the reset button but can't seem to figure out the button to select or input information. What am I missing?

6NR is worth it alone for pandora and MOG. They both also work without the cradle. I have no use for Facebook and twitter.
