ways to get new car sooner
I just put my order this week. My CA told me I need to wait 6-8 weeks. Do you guys have ways to make BMW accelerate the production and get the car sooner? How can I do? call my CA?

To my knowledge, BMW is still quoting 3-5 weeks for USA, but that might not include transportation to distant states. It is also possible that we are seeing the initial effect of the Japan crisis. Another thing to remember is dealer allocation is not created equal - dealers are allocated so many of each model per year, per month, and per production week. Your dealer may not have any allocation until a few weeks from now. They can trade allocation with other dealers (I've had a CA do this for me) but no guarantees there.
It's also possible that your CA just doesn't care and is being lazy. But it's not fair to assume that without some evidence of it.

You can always pay over MSRP and dealer will bump off someone if he has a similar spec car in production and blame it on the Japan crisis to the unlucky fellow.

Your best bet is to contact all the BMW dealers in your area and ask them if they have any production slots available in the very near future. You may find some that have an order placed and are willing to alter the order. Some folks have picked up their X3s in a matter of just a couple weeks from order to delivery. It all depends on the dealers allocation and what orders they already have in the pipeline.

I plan on ordering this Saturday. My CA told me that if I'm ordering with the Nav. option, I'll have the vehicle in May. If I go without Nav., it pushes it to the first week of June because of the production delay.

I’m not sure if anybody but the higher-ups at BMW know when the non-nav cars will re-start production. I placed my order this week, and chose to go with the nav. |

I'm not sure if delay is an excuse of your CA to allure you to buy extra options like NAVI since it will cost you around $2000 more.

I would suggest finding another dealer with a build slot sooner and/or putting pressure on your CA
