Beige leather changes the entire interior?
I was playing around with the BMW configurator and just realized that the beige leather will change the dark plastic to beige…I didn't know that before

yeah the CA I talked to a while back said that is only for the beige and it affects the top ceiling cloth which is beige also. All others colors get more black on the floor and on the plastics with a grey ceiling cloth. So beige is the only option that changes the ceiling to match with it, and it changes part of the dash, and all other plastics below like on the back of seats, doors, console and carpets as well.

Got beige interior in my E60 5 series so I already knew this, I think the contrast black looks good with the oyster and red/brown
Not seen any mention of the Havana brown option (is it available in the US?)

I know that it's difficult to represent colours and you should look at actual samples but are you telling me that these two are both the same colour (chestnut from http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showth...=468648&page=3 and chestnut from the USA build your own picture in this thread? That is nonsense.

The fineline Sienna trim looked different than I was expecting when I saw it in person. Haven't seen the dark wave wood yet, but in some pictures where it is darker I really like it, other pictures it looks too busy for me. I really wanna see it in person but who knows how long it might take before a dealer gets one in... otherwise you gotta kind of just gamble on it looking the way you want I guess. |

How about an email to the CEO of BMW in the states to go with the Uk letter
![]() Agree 100% samples are a must but it would help if the dealers actually had them ![]()

yeah even if they just had little sample mock ups of the different combos of materials instead of entire vehicles would be a great help. I would hate to spend 50 plus grand on this thing and not be happy with the choices once it finally showed up and I had to live with it.

Hmmm... getting back to the subject of beige interior, got me thinking. I wonder if you could order the beige leather like the oyster combo without changing the plastics or carpets to beige and keep those black. Seems like that could be an option couldn't it?

wow, not that I'd want that configuration anyway but... makes me wonder if the doors are prefabbed before assembly or something like that to make it not possible? The seats are separate so that totally seems doable, but the doors have the plastic and leather together so maybe that's where the problem comes in.
Who knows... but so far I'm finding the X3 to be less configurable than I expected from the "Dream it, Build it, Drive it" I kept hearing about initially. ![]() |

Without meaning to labour the point (OK, I am labouring the point), if you take a crude sample of the two leather colours and compare the RGB values the difference is about 40%. The difference between white and black is 100%. 40% difference simply isn't the same colour any more. Compare the RGBs on the door trims between the photo and the online tool and it's only about 2% difference - again this was a very crude test.
Could well be worth another letter.... ![]()

They use a very similar red/brown in the new 5 series

That changing of the lower part of the front dash really turns me off from some of the lighter colors. I don't like that drastic change in color much.
The Mojave in the pic above looks sharp.
