Now that the 2012 X3 has been officially announced and shown by BMW, X3s are free to roam the streets naked, without their constricting and stuffy camouflage coverings. Spotted here in Munich are black and white X3s, the first real life photos of uncovered 2012 X3's.

Headlights are terrible looking.

Those headlights are hideous!

The chrome eyebrow and the reflector in the headlamp assembly have to go.

I guess that means the US might have the orange reflector in the headlamp.

Why BMW can't make somthing like GLK.
At least try to copy it if you can't come up with an idea.

Overall, I think the car is an improvement in the design category, but not without SNAFUs. First up, BMW's inexplicable use of plastic body cladding. It's cheap, ugly and pointless. Didn't they use the same junk on the original X3 and then remove it when the LCI came out? Is that its only purpose - to have an easy "fix" to make the LCI look better? I guess the only options are to M-Sport or hope that black hides it better than these photos seem to indicate.

Second, I will continue to reserve my opinion on the headlights until I see them in person, but they have the potential to be a major eyesore.

Audi is sooooo shitting on us design wise its not even funny.

New Q7, S5 and A6 are probably one of the best designed cars i've seen in a VERY long time, they really win in their category design wise.

The GLK is a over-styled, boxy, overweight pig, and the motor will never hold up to the X3's N55... sooo MB is screwed now!

It visually thins the vehicle a bit, thats its purpose. Also negates the need to protect those panels from debris damage.
