Future BMW X4?
Edmunds InsideLine is reporting on what the future of the BMW X line might hold, namely a BMW X4, think BMW X6 but in 3-series size. On paper it sounds like a good idea, an X car reflection of the 3 series, sporty, stylish, good looking, etc.., but the X car lineup has grown alot in the past few years and there are worries that there are too many niche cars at the moment. I think it would be a good idea to go for it and see what happens ![]() For now this rendering based on the X6 gives a glimpse of what may become... Thanks to Harajuku for forwarding the story my way! Source: http://blogs.insideline.com/straight...-build-it.html

lol, Ford Kuga probably does same things but costs 50% less but flattering it was photoshopped anyway. It'a about utility and what people willing to pay. ANything will sell in droves with a BMW badge attached, but sadly 10 years from now cars like these will be remembered as final nail into coffin of the the "Utlimate Driving Machine".

I don't know what to think
Why all these new models? The X1 doesn't look like it's a success, well at least here that is. They are working on the new X3 which I think is going to be a nice looking car. So IMO X3 and X5 will do. Also read rumours about a grand coupe or something, based on the 3 series or 5 series? The 5 series GT is not a great selling car either and I doubt it will ever be as people who are into 5 series will get the new 5 I think. Why adding all those new models? 2 series, X4 the X1 already, I don't get it But hell what do I know![]() Edit, I forgot to mention the X6 I somehow like that car but it is being regarded here as a useless car and as one of the ugliest cars. Well I don't agree on the ugly part and I think looks are personal but I can agree a bit with it being useless. Not a car that is sold much here, but it also is really €€€€.

100% PAID FOR!

Go for it, I'm sure it will sell...
These days niche vehicles are where its at, looks like BMW is moving towards an array of such vehicles, doesn't bother me, go ahead and build an x2 and an x7 while your at it...

Yet another truck to demonstrate the aspirations of BMW. Anyone with a badge people recognize can become a new Toyota, or even GM. BMW is already half there, flying through their victory roll to the Toyota dreamland.

...what a wonderful world it would be if companies did not have to have perpetual growth forever in the eyes of investors...
..perish the thought a company could be great at something and make a continuous profit instead of more profit than last Q over and over again they have to be everything to all people e0 to Z9 ~Frost

The World is Not Enough

This would be a direct competitor to the new Land Rover LRX due out next year so yes it's very possible BMW will do it. And considering how bland their F01 and F10 is looking this would be a welcome change........

No, BMW, this is stupid. The X6 is already a useless car. Now you want to make it smaller and more useless? WTF?
It looks cool but makes no sense. ![]()

X4
I like it. Here is a possible explanation for these the X6 and its ilk.
The X5 and the X3 ar nice vehicles but because of their practicality we all see that the drivers are mostly women. So they become termed as emasculating grocery getters. The X even numbered{ 2,4,6} vehicles are sportier and a little less practical and therefore are more attractive to men or at least their lack of utility makes them less attractive to women. We are by nature hardwire attracted to appearance and the X6 is IMHO very beautiful. Like a big boobed, hard body heart breaker that may not be as practical, but who cares she's beautiful and can go anywhere fast. |

Very True!!! It seems BMW is trying to fill every niche except the performance oriented niche which was at one point, it's core business.
Truly sad.

You people are so self-aggrandizingly delusional. BMW's core business is sports cars? Get a clue, BMW's core business is selling badged cars to wealthy housewives.
The fact that BMW uses that money to PAY to research cars like the M3 is something you should all be thankful for. You all bitch and moan all day about how BMW is losing its way, yet the most recent M3 by all practical measurements has been considered the greatest affordable sports car ever made. The Z4S is basically as M as a Z4 needs to be and its a hard top so who needs a coupe?! The X6 did not kill BMW, it made them lots of money, as did the X5 before that when everyone was crying that BMW's SAV will ruin the name. The fact is, BMW right now makes the greatest cars their company has even seen, and they are getting even better and more diverse. Some of the fools here think that a factory that just pumps out M3's all day would make a lot of money. Now BMW: Bring on the X4 and Z2 and you've got two new cars in my garage in 3 years. |

Agreed, do you see the running board that has been deleted in the reflection (on the door panel)? Or is it just my imagination.
