New X3 at one of my Local Dealers
I received an email from A&L motors in Pittsburgh that they got in the Showroom X3. It was Alpine White with black leather and white stitching, looked really sharp! It was the 28i model. It was still a pre-production model thats why there where no buttons on the steering wheel and the climate controls were less than attractive. They will be digital like the controls in 3ers'. Something else I didn't know was they all have keyless go so that is something to look forward to. Anyways I took a plethora of pictures. Sorry if the quality is poor I took them with my phone. Feel free to ask some question's I may be able to answer them. The salesman seemed somewhat knowledgable so I asked as many questions as possible. Enjoy.

Thanks for posting this. Was it noticeably larger than the previous model? What did you think of the interior space, specifically back seats? Most reviews say the leg room in the back is similar to previous X5? Any truth to that?

Sorry those are 17" rims, Fields BMW has the same model on their show room and I sat in it and explored everything for about 45 minutes. Sad to say also that the door panels the mid to lower part on all 4 doors is a cheap hard plastic as it is found on the 1-series. I was NOT impressed.

The car doesn't feel that much larger from the current X3. The rear seats on the new X3 seem to have a tinny bit more leg room but comfort wise is not better due to the seat cusion being lower in order to keep headroom managable. The previous model X3 rear seats you would sit higher in them giving you more support under your legs.

The only medium-sized SUV I would get is the MDX because it's more reliable than the X5. But, the X3 is closer to the size I need. Can't knock the revised interior-just great! My wife has knee problems and has trouble getting out of the 328i. So, I will trade it in for an SUV over the summer-leading contenders are the MDX and X3. Yes indeed: a sizeable piece of change for the X3 28i when loaded as I want it-as much as an MDX with tech package. |

Pretty much identical X3 here in Washington State
Here are some pics I took today of an almost identical X3 at our local dealership in Bellevue Wa. They had it inside, parked nose into the corner windows so I couldn't get a good front shot. Only thing I noticed I really hadn't seen already in pics and videos was that the door handles have led lights that light up underneath the keyhole when you open them. It will be displayed thru the 21st. I didn't have time to talk to anyone, went over on a break from work real quick, but I'll probably go back to check it out some more sometime before the 21st.

Sounds like the X3 is making great strides moving upmarket. My 6er has puddle lights too and it's very helpful in the rainy Northwest. Highly recommended option, I plan to get them on my X3 when I order it in Q1 '11.

I hated the headlights too when I first saw the new X3 photos, but they have actually slowly grown on me now and don't bother me as much.
Overall I really like the new X3 even though I was expecting more initially with the design change. The design is very nice, but seems a bit conservative, was expecting an even more drastic change, but still very nice design indeed and big improvement over the outgoing X3. My 2 dislikes are 1 the headlights, I wish they'd flow back better with the lines of the vehicle, and 2 the way the dashboard connects with the speedometer/tach hood. It looks like 2 pieces jammed together instead of one continuous flow like in the X5 and even the X1. But that's really no big deal as the interior overall is very nice and good quality. ... and I guess I wouldn't mind dual pipes in the back too like the X5... since everything else is symmetric so it seems a bit out of place visually, but again no big deal to me really. Overall, I'm impressed and can't wait to test drive one in December. |

Yeah. That's called rationalizing-brainwashing yourself into believing a falsehood. I did the same with my ugly-ass 2005 545i-convincing myself the car was "handsome" even though it was hideous.
