BMW Press Release:

The new BMW X3 has received top scores in the Euro NCAP crash test. The third generation SAV secured all five stars and passed with flying colours in each category.

According to the report, the protection of adult occupants travelling within the vehicle was rated 93 per cent. Euro NCAP experts, commented: “The passenger compartment of the X3 remained stable in the frontal offset test. BMW showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions.”

For the protection of children on-board the BMW X3, the testers provided a rating of 84 per cent and the pedestrian protection was rated at 70 per cent.

The BMW X3 thrived during the testing at low speeds and thanks to the City Braking function and at higher speeds, the systems contributed to a noticeably reduced impact speed and were able to significantly mitigate the consequences of accidents."

That's pretty amazing!

I'm very stoked to hear this. Been thinking about getting an X3M 1-2 years after the launch. Maybe even a competition pack version if they offer.

I feel the X3M will be the ultimate balance of performance, utility and now safety.

This is great news.
I like X3's driving dynamics, luxury, aesthetics and all, but what counts first is safety after all.

The pedestrian test would be most realistic if the pedestrian had his head down as he was reading his smart phone.

You must not be an X3 M40i owner...

That steering wheel doesn't get any better looking every day of using it. They seriously shorted North American customers.

Cheers to that!

Almost a guarantee that they won't try anything dumb like that with an actual M version.

Try ordering one through a dealer telling them what steering wheel you want, and have them send the request to BMW and I bet you can can get it fulfilled.

Tell the dealer you will not except the order if they cannot get it approved.

Did that, basically got told to F off and that it wasn't possible at all to have the M-sport wheel installed. Lots of us did.

I have a "we-owe" from the dealer I purchased from saying they'd sell me the wheel at cost when available.

I'd order a nice M-Sport Wheel and install it and be on my way.

I did while my M40i was being built, but no luck. I even have a contact down at the factory. Nevertheless, I have something in the works with Corporate, but I'll believe that when I see it!

I need to figure out exactly what I need to order. I know it is the steering wheel for a G30 and then a matching airbag. But then I get confused regarding Drivers Assistance versus Drivers assistance plus. I need to have getbmwparts.com tell me what I need to order.

Ask a parts employee for assistance.

The G01 710 Wheel or G01 M Performance Wheel have not yet been released from BMW for parts yet. They are in the system, but awaiting release. I've been in talks with Evan over at Tischer

Since the M G30 wheel is the same, why do we need to wait for Evan to have the M GO1 wheel? By the way, Evan's dealership will do my install.

That was my exact thought, but Evan simply said he honestly didn't know if the G30 would work and that it doesn't look like it at this point. That's when he referred to the 710 G01 wheel in the parts catalog that has yet to be released.

OK, no biggie. I can wait. Gives me more time to find the $2,000 that it will cost.
