BMW performance parts?

I might be wrong, but there doesn't seem to be any performance parts offered by bmw for the X3! BMW offer parts for just about every other vehicle they sell, even had the new X5 offerings on sale before new model was....

Brakes, suspension and cosmetics for nearly all other cars but not the X3..

Wouldn't make much sense to have "Performance" brakes; exhaust; suspension on a SUV (sorrrrry: SAV!) imho. I am sure that there are plenty of goodies for the M-series (and probably also for the X6)

So why have bmw created parts for the X5 if there's not much sense? In your opinion....

Of particular interest:

BMW M Performance Parts are not just about show. An M Performance Power Kit is available for the 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-six in the X5 xDrive35i. It adds 20 horsepower and 32 lb-ft of torque, bring total output to 320 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. The kit also provides sharper throttle calibration for a more direct connection with the accelerator pedal. The available M Performance Exhaust, available with chrome exhaust tips, provides the perfect complement to the increased power.

Another compliment to the enhanced acceleration and responsiveness provided by the M Performance Power Kit is the increased stopping performance provided by the M Performance Brake Kit. The M Performance Brake Kit for the new X5 includes six- piston calipers with 19-inch steel rotors largely adapted from the previous generation X5M.

My point was that from a "common sense" point of view, "performance" parts do not make much sense for an SUV/SAV. If BMW makes "performance" parts available for the X5, than that is most probably a marketing decision (i.e. there are probably enough X5 buyers who are willing to invest in "performance" parts to make the development of such parts for an X5 profitable..... If BMW do not make them available for the X3, it is most probably because they estimate that it is not profitable.. nothing more, nothing less.

Can't imagine the MPPK is that difficult or expensive to port to the X3 (N55). But agree- clearly they don't view the X3 market as one worth investing in distribution, at least for this generation.

It's also possible that they were waiting for the LCI launch (and are still waiting, X5 parts arrived ~5 months after the first delivery) to release the X3 m performance parts catalogue.

There will be performance parts for the X4 so maybe they will bring them over to the X3. A little more HP and better brakes wouldn't hurt.

It's the brakes I'm interested in tbh. Have enough oomph for our roads

I spent some more time digging on the MPPK issue and it's likely due to the fact that the X3 doesn't have an oil cooler (unlike the X5, 335i, etc.).

That's interesting- any idea how you spec a 'hot climate' X3?

Better brakes indeed. Maybe with all the hype of the Macan and the X4 coming soon, a better kit will be available to us.

I think I've done as much as is available at the moment for an X3. Wheels, springs, exhaust, power chip, accelerator booster, air intake. Would love to get a BBK kit as well but the supplier I was talking with last year hasn't come through with the goods for the X3. The rear brake is an e-brake system so its an electrical exercise as well as a mechanical exercise to have an aftermarket option.
