high mileage - should I keep or get an F25?
Have a 2004 X3. 132,000 miles on the clock. runs great and is in great shape. Automatic.
should I keep driving it or should I sell/trade for a 2011 X3? Or should I wait a year, or should I wait 3 years? or another 5 years? I can get close to 10k for my rig via a trade (maybe). Am wondering if I should drive the rig to 200,000 miles and hope to get about 5k out of it in a trade. Driving another 68,000 for ~5k depreciation, along with any repairs (most I do myself) is worth it, or should I spend close to 50k on a new X3. Is now the time to pull the trigger? also, how many > 100,000 X3 E83s are out there? Any huge issues other than the nickle and dime issues we all read about on the message boards? thoughts? |

I have a 2005 3.0 with 181,000 miles. I use it for work, and it goes off road to cellular tower sites quite often. It still runs perfectly, and rides great. Outside of normal maintenance items (brakes, tires, etc) there have only been 2 minor out of warranty repairs. The oil filter housing leaked, and the overflow tank for the radiatior had to be replaced. Quite remarkable for a vehicle that leads a harder life than most. Of course it has been well maintained, which is key.
I am very close to getting the new X3. My car is 6 years old, and I would like some of the new features offered on the 2011. The increased gas mileage is a plus, too. |
