Black out grill?

Why do most European spec X3's have this blacked out grill?

Euro Spec

US Spec

Personally I love it and wish it would come with the US X3's. Does anyone know a reason for this or is it in an option in other countries?

That's because most European X3's are 2.0 diesel engine, and with this model the grill is black. In US most orders are 35i and that's why grill is in chrom.

But there is no Black Accesory grill yet, this European grill is just because of the chipest engine version.

The 28i in Canada comes with the blacked out grills cuz it's the cheapest model.

My 28i came with the chrome grilles actually. Maybe because of x-line spec?

I changed my black grills for chrome grills, so I still have the black ones and are for sale.

My 28i's grilles are chrome and mine has x-line spec.....

I don't think it has anything to do with x-line though... In the pictures I posted some have x-line with black grills and some don't have x-line with black grills... It must just be a european thing?

In Europe with BMW it's often the 6 cylinder models that get chrome grills.

It's just occurred to me reading this thread that if I do decide to go titanium and sell my black grilles, they won't be brand new and I won't get as much money for them if I sell them. Doh!

They were changed in the garage before I did the first kilometer (mile) !!!

I had my black grilles changed pre delivery to the titanium grilles by the dealer and assumed (wrongly) they had put the old black ones in the boot/trunk

Will chase them up before someone puts them on ebay
