New Owner : X3 few questions (may help some of you too)
1) Gas mileage
X3 35i, 1000km, 13.3l/100km (17.96mpg), normal? 50% city 20% hill 30% highway 2) I never owned a SUV before and how do you guys manage to clean the roof? 3) any tips or tricks for first time SUV owner? 4) is there a way that you can transmit all the address from your phone/computer to the BMW NAVI? 1 mileage will get better. At 4000kms and I'm at 11.8.
2 small step ladder. 3 can't think of anything. 4 I can find my contacts addresses off my iPhone. You can also send an address to your NAV from Google maps off your PC. 5 I wash once a week.

Gas mileage-I am having a hard time breaking past 18 city which is most of my driving. This is better than a grand cherokee inline 6 I owned and I get much better driving dynamics.
Roof-I worked at a car wash detail shop in school and we always seeped on the back tire to get up to clean/dry/polish and you can get the front typically just by reaching up. If you need to put a towel down and step on the lower door jam to do a better job on the front part of the roof. Wash-I typically run my cars through a spray only automatic wash and dry myself. I have very rarely ever got a good wash at a place with workers as they typically do not receive good training on prepping cars. |

step on the rear tire to wash the roof. Then, open the front driver/passenger door and step on the door sill to wash the front part of the roof.

Mine had 4200 miles on it. Just got back from Destin Fl. Got anywhere from 29.6 to 25.7. That depends on your speed and terrain. I drove anywhere from 65mph to 79mph.
Put a wash mitt on a mop handle works great while standing on the ground. Wash mine once a week if it needs it or not. |

For the roof I use an extendable deal from Griots that has a microfiber thing on the end like a mop recommended by LEDZEP. For drying and detailing I use a step stool. I wash every week or two Spring to Autumn. I'm very pleased with Zaino products for exterior and leather. About to try the 303 stuff folks here have recommended for the interior. Stoner's Invisible Glass for interior windows; Invisible Glass with rain repellent on the outside. This stuff wins for me hands down over other cleaners and RainX. Cuts through that interior grime, dispenses with bugs, and leaves a nice repellency that doesn't gum up. Though I do have RainX in the washer reservoir.
