Side By Side Comparo-F26 X4 vs F25 X3

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
These photo's were shot from virtually the same spot and distance for both the X3 and X4. As good a comparo as is currently available until someone catches the two vehicles parked next to each other. Great way to compare both platform mates from many different angles. Enjoy. Thanks. PalBay

Thanks Palbay, nice shots.

As for physical size, the concept X4 has the same length and wheelbase as the X3, while being wider and lower than the X3. Here's how the dimensions compare and a look at how the styling differs between the two.

Nice work BMW! The X4 fills in the gaping hole that exists between the 3-series GT and the X3.

X4 concept looks good BUT 4 concept to production took it down so dramatically and it looks rather boring. The x4 im expecting to look even more boring and just plain old weird. The 3gt looks so odd this is basically just a 3gt version of the 4 right? Ha.

Awful. That first picture looks so gross.

It looks like a smaller version of the X6.

I know this looks very uninspiring, but let's have some hope:

From SCOTT26,

Quote:
It was going to happen sooner or later but here is one of the first renderings of what the production car will look like. Although the render over evaluates some details such as the decorative intake trims and wheels from the X3. But everything else seen here is exact to the car that will launch at the end of the year before its world premiere at the 2014 NAIAS , including the wheels and you will have to get used to the concept cars color.

I really want an X4.
Then again, in the early '80s I wanted an AMC Eagle SX/4 Liftback.

That was way groove. But not the Eagle Kammback.

That was just a 4x4 AMC Gremlin.

I really don't understand the need for three similar models. Seems confusing to the average consumer. From a production standpoint seems very inefficient.

If only they had the balls to make the concept 4 series, beeing the 4.
But no, they played it to safe.
I reckon this nice looking concept X4, will be just as boring as we saw with what happened with the 4, sad!
And imo, the interiour in the current X3 is not premium enough, seeing the F15, the X4 should be more exclusive than it's sibling.
As of now, the X3 looks garbage/cheap next to the F15 imo.

can't compare the F15 to the X3, compare it to the GLK (which the X3 blows away) and the Q5 (which its on par with).

Having said that, it would be nice if the X4 interior was more in line with the 3/4 series. I have a 2013 335i and a 2012 X3 and even though they are very alike at first glance, you can tell they used better quality materials on the 335i, especially around the door trim, our X3 is only 2 years old and we treat it pretty well, the door seals are in horrible shape and comparing them to the seals on my 335i they are just different quality. I guess they had to cheap out somewhere to get the X3 costs down.

I don't understand. Are these people whining about more models shareholders or something?
Why complain if you're just getting more choices?
While some people will appreciate more choices, if you don't like then just ignore and move on!
Everyone have different personal taste.

I like more choices. There's nothing to lose for me.
And I like this car. I'm in the mid 20s and I love sporty SUV.

Right it's not like they stopped making the M3 to make this. And remember the more money BMW makes the more they can put into development of new cars that you do like.

If only BMW had the balls to use the X4 concept's exterior on the production model. That front end and the tail lights look spectacular.

Looks nice and all, but I really don't understand the need for this car...

What can it do that the X3 can't? What role will it fill that the X3 can't?
