iDrive controller failure

Hi folks

I have an MSport 30D into which i was trying to hardwire a Nextbase Dashcam.I had information that fuse 31 in the front fuse box would work, so I removed said fuse installed the piggyback and tried it. No success so I put the original fuse back in (quite difficult) and just ran the power cord to the centre storage and into the 12v socket.

My iDrive controller has now failed, incl. the buttons around. All else is still working (screen etc and voice commands)

My question is, is it possible I have upset it. Does this fuse feed the controller?
