Well, the X3 has arrived at dealership since last Friday however, we can't pick it up till tomorrow. Few questions:-

i) what to expect and inspect ? It's our first time to custom order and it's going to replace my wife 328i.
ii) what kind mileage I should expect ? I just don't want them to allow customer to "test drive" my X3.
iii) where do you guys buy the BMW accessories ? I want to buy Wheel Locks, All Weather Mat and probably Chrome Tips.

My hand is still shaking for writing near 50k check. Not as bad as write a check for 150k on house down payment though.

I always go over the paint very carefully. Make sure they park it in the sun for you so you can see if there are any imperfections. Then I check the wheels for scuffs and dings. Take it for a test drive. Just be picky and don't be afraid to ask questions.
You can buy accessories at the parts counter.

I got mine at the PCD and it had like 5 miles on it. we got to tour the factory and the last step they do is put in on a rolling thing where they drive it in place for a while to test it - so I guess that's where the miles came from since it's only a mile from the factory to the PCD - or maybe they pulled a Ferris Bueller and took it for a little Joy ride before dropping it off!

My X3 had 10 miles on it. They drove it to off site place for 3M clear mask. (We use pea gravel on the roads for traction in bad snow days on CO highways.). There was no pressure to accept the dealer add ons.

Dealer provided free BMW mats.

I've bought some accessories off eBay.

-- In addition to things mentioned above, I'd check to see that all protective materials have been removed. If not done properly some can leave difficult to remove remnants and I'd want that to be their problem vice mine.

-- mine had 2 miles on it

-- parts department in advance of delivery, if possible, and may get anything that requires installation thrown on w/o charge

thank you. I bought it for my wife. We got $1k over invoice. I could get better deal at that time if I bought from other dealer but after getting lied by one local dealer ( they promised they could match AMEX price from other dealer if I stopped by at dealership ), we went with same dealer we bought 328i 3 years ago.

The car looks great. My dearly departed 328 was the same colour combo. SG is such an easy colour to keep clean!
