Are outside Mirrors electric folding?

For those who already received their X3, are the outside mirror electric folding like on the 3 serie (E90/1)?

It's an additional cost option on the xDrive20d in the UK to get auto folding and auto dimming mirrors (275GBP when I ordered)

Do they work with the remote control. I thought not but have seen a video which seems to indicate that they do.

The manual says they do; I did not try this in person though.

I think the us manual says you need to press the button internally. What part of the manual you referring to?

I checked again and the manual only mentions the position in the profile, not folding. The remote control also controls the windows - but not the mirrors. Thus I am wrong.

Not sure that it's the same, but on my 330i, if you hold the close button on the remote (or keep your finger on the door handle for comfort access) for a bit the mirrors fold in and then unfold again when you unlock the car.

Unlike my 330i, the mirrors on my X3 do not fold when holding the lock button on the remote or continuing to hold finger on the Comfort Access lock point. They also do not unfold automatically when unlocking the car doors. Control seems restricted to the button near the mirror controls on the door.

As Nahoa mentioned, that seems to be the only button I have found to fold them.

This is a bit disappointing, particularly as it's an extra 275GBP for this option and othr BMWs have this feature. Never mind.

Surely if you can unfold you must be able to fold like the E60 5 series and I would be extremely disappointed if you can't.

The owner's manual for xDrive28/35 makes no mention of being able to fold/unfold by using anything other than the button on the door

Just tried this and holding the lock button on the remote key folds the mirrors automatically. When you unlock the car they again automatically unfold (for a UK spec xDrive20d with electric folding and auto dimming mirrors option)

I could have sworn this was standard on both (28/35) models, even here in the US. Isn't it so?

no options to fold the mirror automatically upon locking the car then?

Hmmm, I think you misunderstood what I just said? If you have the elec folding mirrors option, you just hold the lock button on the remote key to fold the mirrors on locking the car (rather than just pressing unlock briefly). Unlocking the car then automatically unfolds them again.

rather than pressing lock briefly (vice unlock)

Either I'm not patient enough or this doesn't work on my US model (used on on the 330i). Must try again.
